About me

I’ve worked as a network engineer, DevOps engineer and infrastructure engineer, and I still enjoy doing all three. Today I lead an infrastructure team, while staying close to the technology and the practical work of keeping services running.

I like infrastructure that’s boring in the best sense: secure, documented, managed as code and quietly reliable. I’ve helped bring environments into line with ISO/IEC 27001, PCI DSS and the PSN Code of Connection, replaced hand-built server estates with Ansible and PowerShell DSC, and kept services running through an acquisition and significant organisational change.

My day-to-day work spans Windows Server and Active Directory, Debian Linux, PostgreSQL, Cassandra, RabbitMQ, Proxmox, firewalls and switching. I also look after office CCTV and door access—and, as part of leading a team, approve the occasional holiday request.
